Peeled Onions
Durham, North Carolina
20x24 inch mounted metallic C-print
2008

I was making a pot of stew one day only to discover that my newly-purchased bag of onions were almost all bad. As I peeled one after another into the sink, I had to throw more away than I kept, and this is the evidence. The extremely long exposure in very dim light allowed all the delicate details of the onions to register on the film while the highly-reflective curve in the stainless-steel sink becomes a bright horizon line.
