There are many disadvantages to living with a photographer fascinated by decay. For my girlfriend, one of the drawbacks is my propensity to view everything in our immediate living environment as a potential subject. When the soap dish broke, I was delighted: as if by magic it had become a Greek ruin. I soon spent a long night in the bathroom with a tiny reading light, slowly circling and illuminating it for the camera. I still enjoy looking at it, even when I'm not shooting it. |
