Northern
Red Bat Though tiny, this is not a baby bat but rather an almost-mature juvenile. He was one of many counted in a census conducted by bat biologists in central North Carolina in the summer of 2004. This is not one of my long exposures, but rather a slow flash exposure. I include him in this show because I think of bats as the totem animals of night dwellers everywhere. Bats know that the best hunting (whether it's insects or photographs) happens between dusk and 2 a.m. |
