Ladybanks Rose Ring

The best opportunities often present themselves as you’re packing up your gear to leave. In the case of this photograph, I had made it all the way home after my long night of shooting. When I stepped up onto my front porch, I triggered the motion light, which lit up the left side of the Ladybanks rose bush with its warm glow. When I saw that the soft bluish light of pre-dawn was beginning to illuminate the right side of the rose bush, I had no choice but to unpack my gear and make this picture before its delicate balance was overwhelmed by the coming sunrise.
